Adhere to the prescribed dose, time, and way while giving Dolomec MF Syrup to your child. Give it orally, preferably at a fixed time. It can be given before or after food, but giving it after food helps prevent the chance of developing an upset stomach. Dolomec MF Syrup contains Mefenamic acid and paracetamol as its active ingredients. Both these ingredients are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Dolomec MF Syrup works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever, pain, and inflammation (redness and swelling).
Mefenamic acid is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Mefenamic acid undergoes metabolism by CYP2C9 to 3-hydroxymethyl mefenamic acid, and further oxidation to a 3-carboxymefenamic acid may occur. The activity of these metabolites has not been studied. Mefenamic acid is also glucuronidated directly. It distributes rapidly and evenly throughout most tissues and fluids and has a volume of distribution of approximately 0.9L/kg. 10 to 20% of the drug is bound to red blood cells. Paracetamol is extensively metabolised (predominantly in the liver), the major metabolites being the sulphate and glucuronide conjugates.
