Dopin 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilizes and enhances the mood. It is better to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medication.
Dopin 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
Dosulepin is readily absorbed from the small intestine and is extensively metabolized on first-pass through the liver into its chief active metabolite, northiaden. Peak plasma concentrations of between 30.4 and 279 ng/mL (103–944 nmol/L) occur within 2–3 hours of oral administration.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Dopin 25mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Dopin 25mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

The effects of Dopin Tablet may not be fully obtained if you use other medicines or over-the-counter medicines at the same time as Dopin Tablet . This can sometimes cause side effects or affect their effectiveness. Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements. By doing so, the action of the drug can be avoided and controlled. Dopin Tablet may sometimes interact with the following drugs and products
Alcohol
Areomeprazole
Benzodiazepines
Carbamazepine
Ciprofloxacin
Diltiazem
Either diazepam
Erythromycin

Do not chew, crush or break it. Dopin 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Dopin 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
It may take 4 to 6 weeks for Dopin 25mg Tablet to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed.
It may cause sleepiness. Take it at bedtime and do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Dopin 25mg Tablet as it may cause excessive sleepiness.
Monitor your weight during the treatment as this medicine can cause weight gain and increased appetite.
Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.

Q. How to stop Dopin 25mg Tablet?
If your doctor asks you to stop Dopin 25mg Tablet, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Sudden discontinuation may cause aggression, anxiety, blurred vision, concentration impairment, constipation and crying spell.
Q. Is Dopin 25mg Tablet fatal?
Yes. Dopin 25mg Tablet can be fatal (can cause death) in overdose. This is due to a life-threatening or dangerous side effect in overdose like hyperthermia, seizure, arrhythmia, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension or sudden death. That's why it is generally not considered a first-line option for depression because of side effect profile.
Q. Can I take Dopin 25mg Tablet with diazepam?
It is better to avoid this combination. Diazepam is a sedative drug and Dopin 25mg Tablet may cause sedation as a side effect too. Taking both of them together can increase the drowsiness or sleepiness. Inform your doctor if you are taking diazepam.
Q. Can Dopin 25mg Tablet be used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia?
No. Dopin 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal or 5th cranial nerve, one of the most widely distributed nerves in the head.

No. Dopin 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterised by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel habits.
Q. Can Dopin 25mg Tablet be used to treat insomnia with depression?
Yes. Dopin 25mg Tablet may be used for the treatment of insomnia (too much arousal both at night and during the day) associated with depression. Because it can cause drowsiness or sedation as side effects, it is effective in treating insomnia associated with depression.
Q. Can I use Dopin 25mg Tablet for fibromyalgia?
Yes. Dopin 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome with tenderness but no structural pathology in muscles, ligamanets or joints.
Q. Can I use Dopin 25mg Tablet for nerve pain?
Yes. Dopin 25mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of nerve pain/neuropathic pain. Chronic pain/Neuropathic pain is described as pain that arises from damage to, or dysfunction of, any part of peripheral or central nervous system. It is associated with the disease which can affect nerves like diabetes mellitus or herpes infections.
