Dothcer 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilizes and enhances the mood. It is better to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medication.
Dothcer 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
Dosulepin is readily absorbed from the small intestine and is extensively metabolized on first-pass through the liver into its chief active metabolite, northiaden. Peak plasma concentrations of between 30.4 and 279 ng/mL (103–944 nmol/L) occur within 2–3 hours of oral administration.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Hypersensitivity to Dothcer Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Dothcer Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
Allergic reactions to peanut or soya
Allergic reactions to this drug
Concomitant use of sotalol or halofantrine
Concomittant use of terfenadine, astemizole, or monoamine oxidase inhibitor
Glaucoma
Heart problems
Liver problems
Mania
Patients younger than 18 year old
Use of this drug within 14 days of stopping usage of monoamine oxidase inhibitors
Dothcer 25mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Dothcer 25mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Dothcer 25mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Dothcer Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Dothcer Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Adrenaline
Amylobarbitone
Antihypertensive medications
Astemizole
Barbiturates
Co- dydramol
Co-proxamol
Cocomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitor
Codeine
Dihydrocodeine
Do not chew, crush or break it. Dothcer 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Dothcer 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
It may take 4 to 6 weeks for Dothcer 25mg Tablet to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed.
It may cause sleepiness. Take it at bedtime and do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Dothcer 25mg Tablet as it may cause excessive sleepiness.
Monitor your weight during the treatment as this medicine can cause weight gain and increased appetite.
Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.

Dothcer 25mg Tablet is chemically related to Amitriptyline and both are tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) medicine. There is overlap in pharmacological property of this medicine.
Q. Is Dothcer 25mg Tablet the same as doxepin?
Dothcer 25mg Tablet and doxepin are different medicines but belong to the similar chemical class. Doxepin, at low doses, can improve sleep in patients with insomnia. It is also available in the topical form for use in various neuro-dermatitis syndrome, especially itching.
Q. How to stop Dothcer 25mg Tablet?
If your doctor asks you to stop Dothcer 25mg Tablet, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Sudden discontinuation may cause aggression, anxiety, blurred vision, concentration impairment, constipation and crying spell.
Q. Is Dothcer 25mg Tablet fatal?
Yes. Dothcer 25mg Tablet can be fatal (can cause death) in overdose. This is due to a life-threatening or dangerous side effect in overdose like hyperthermia, seizure, arrhythmia, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension or sudden death. That's why it is generally not considered a first-line option for depression because of side effect profile.
Q. Can I take Dothcer 25mg Tablet with diazepam?
It is better to avoid this combination. Diazepam is a sedative drug and Dothcer 25mg Tablet may cause sedation as a side effect too. Taking both of them together can increase the drowsiness or sleepiness. Inform your doctor if you are taking diazepam.
Q. Can Dothcer 25mg Tablet be used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia?
No. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal or 5th cranial nerve, one of the most widely distributed nerves in the head.
Q. Can Dothcer 25mg Tablet be used in the treatment of burning mouth syndrome?
No. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of burning mouth syndrome. Burning mouth syndrome is a painful condition of mouth that is burning, scalding, tingling or feeling of numbness that may occur every day for months or longer.

Yes. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of depression. It has a potential advantage in the patient with depression if associated with insomnia and anxiety. No. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterised by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel habits.
Q. Can Dothcer 25mg Tablet be used to treat insomnia with depression?
Yes. Dothcer 25mg Tablet may be used for the treatment of insomnia (too much arousal both at night and during the day) associated with depression. Because it can cause drowsiness or sedation as side effects, it is effective in treating insomnia associated with depression.
Q. Can I use Dothcer 25mg Tablet for fibromyalgia?
Yes. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome with tenderness but no structural pathology in muscles, ligamanets or joints.
Q. Can I use Dothcer 25mg Tablet for nerve pain?
Yes. Dothcer 25mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of nerve pain/neuropathic pain. Chronic pain/Neuropathic pain is described as pain that arises from damage to, or dysfunction of, any part of peripheral or central nervous system. It is associated with the disease which can affect nerves like diabetes mellitus or herpes infections.
