Dox 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilizes and enhances the mood. It is usually advised to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. If you have missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medicine.
This medicine works by decreasing the actions of histamine in the brain. This helps in inducing sleep. It also works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain which help in maintaining mental balance and reducing anxiety and depression.
Doxepin is in the tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) drug class; these agents work by increasing the concentration of the neurotransmitter's serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) in the brain.

Doxepin is used to treat anxiety or depression. It is also used to treat insomnia (trouble with sleeping). Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA). It works on the central nervous system (CNS) to increase levels of certain chemicals in the brain.
DOXEPIN is known to interact with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), antipsychotics (chlorpromazine, fluphenazine, perphenazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine, trifluoperazine, bupropion), medication to treat stomach ulcer (cimetidine), thyroid hormone, anti-diabetic medications (tolazamide), opioid pain or cough relievers (such as codeine, hydrocodone), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, loreazepam, zolpidem).
Do not chew, crush or break it. Dox 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Dox 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Do not take Dox 25mg Tablet if you are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last two weeks or, if you suffer from mania (where you experience an abnormally elevated and excitable mood). It should not be given to children under 12 years of age.
