Doxeva 10 mg/10 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine. It is advised to take it as per the prescription. It can be taken with or without food, but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment must be completed even if you feel better. Sudden discontinuation of the treatment may affect the potency of the medicine.
Doxeva 10 mg/10 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Doxylamine and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), which treats nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy. Doxylamine is an antihistamine which works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (histamine), thereby controlling nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.
The bioavailability of doxylamine is 24.7% for oral administration and 70.8% for intranasal administration. The Tmax of doxylamine is 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Its elimination half-life is 10 to 12 hours (range 7 to 13 hours).There is no indication of circadian rhythm in vitamin B6-levels in blood plasma. Pharmacokinetics of vitamin B6 differ fundamentally, depending from the route of administration. The rate constants of elimination of B6-metabolites indicate a tendency of accumulation. Pyridoxine is rapidly metabolized in erythrocytes.
