DROTIN 40 MG/2 ML INJECTION is given as an injection under the medical supervision of a doctor. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.
The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, and dryness in the mouth. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. It may also make you feel dizzy as of low blood pressure if happens take caution while driving.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had severe heart disease or have blood pressure issues, or you have liver or kidney disease. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Your doctor may check blood pressure regularly while on treatment with this medicine.
Drotaverine is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), which is an enzyme responsible for the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Inhibition of PDE4 leads to elevated levels of cAMP, leading to smooth muscle relaxation.
Drotaverine is mainly eliminated via hepatic metabolism. About 67% of the drug is found in feces and 20% of the drug was eliminated with urine. Following oral administration of a single 80 mg dose, the mean half-life was 9.11 ± 1.29 hours. Following an intravenous dose of 80 mg, the mean half-life 9.33 ± 1.02 hours.

Drotaverine is used for Pain relief. It relieves pain due to smooth muscle spasm like menstrual pain, pain due to kidney stone, pain due to biliary stone and gastro-intestinal colicky pain. Drotaverine is an anti-spasmodic medicine which relieves contractions (spasms) associated with smooth muscles in the abdomen.
Drug-Drug Interactions: DROTAVERINE may interact with anti-Parkinson (levodopa), painkillers, anti-muscarinic drugs, and benzodiazepines. Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found/established. Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have porphyria, heart, kidney or liver problems.

If you miss a dose of DROTIN 40 MG/2 ML INJECTION, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as DROTIN 40 MG/2 ML INJECTION may cause dizziness.
