Constipation refers to infrequent bowel movements in which the stools are often dry, painful, and hard to pass. A constipated person has fewer than three bowel movements in a week. Dulcoflex Tablet 10's may also be used to clean the intestines before a bowel surgery or examination.

Dulcoflex Tablet 10's contains 'Bisacodyl' that works by increasing the intestinal movements, thereby facilitating stool passage. It speeds up stool movements by stimulating bowel muscles, softens the stools and makes it easier to pass. Thus, Dulcoflex Tablet 10's helps treat constipation.

Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Bisacodyl works by stimulating enteric neurons to cause peristalsis, i.e., colonic contractions. It is also a contact laxative; it increases fluid and salt secretion. The action of bisacodyl on the small intestine is negligible; stimulant laxatives mainly promote evacuation of the colon.

Pharmacokinets

Bisacodyl is administered either orally or rectally. Bisacodyl distributes locally, and the circulating drug undergoes hepatic metabolism and is then excreted in the urine. Bisacodyl is minimally absorbed (15%), and the onset of action of the drug begins 6—8 hours after an oral dose.
