Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

E Mal Injection releases a highly reactive free radical, which causes the death of the malaria-causing parasite.

It also prevents the formation of protein and alters the internal structure of the parasite, thereby killing it.

Pharmacokinets

Artemether is well absorbed from the gut and rapidly hydrolysed to an active metabolite that has a short half-life of 2–3 hours. Lumefantrine absorption from the gut is greatly enhanced by a high-fat meal; it undergoes hepatic metabolism and has a half-life of 2–6 days.
