Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Eldervit 12 Combipack is a nutritional supplement that helps in proper functioning of the brain, heart and the nervous system. It helps in formation of red blood cells and enhances the absorption of iron in the body. This improves the level of hemoglobin and thus reduces the risk of anemia.

Pharmacokinets

The pharmacokinetic profile of plasma FA after oral administration indicated an absorption rate-limited elimination, i.e., so called 'flip-flop' phenomenon. The bioavailability of FA was quite low after a high oral dose (F = 0.01), in contrast to a high value after intramuscular administration (F = 0.95).Methylcobalamin can be administered orally, parenterally and intranasal. Methylcobalamin binds with an intrinsic factor and form a complex which is absorbed in distal ileum. Its half life is 6 days. The pharmacokinetics of nicotinamide were studied in four human volunteers after oral doses of 1–6 g. Plasma concentrations and clearance rates of the vitamin were found to be dose-dependent, with a half-life of ∼7–9 h for the two highest doses administered (4 and 6 g), ∼4 h with 2 g and ∼1.5 h with a 1-g dose. The pharmacokinetics of vitamin C (vitC) is indeed complex. Regulated primarily by a family of saturable sodium dependent vitC transporters (SVCTs), the absorption and elimination are highly dose-dependent.
