EME OD TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases or a family history of heart diseases such as QT prolongation (changes in a heartbeat), chronic constipation or blocked bowels and untreated electrolyte imbalances such as potassium and magnesium in the blood.

EME OD TABLET blocks the action of serotonin, which induces nausea and vomiting (serotonin is a chemical that carries messages between nerve cells in the brain and throughout the body).
Pharmacokinetics. Orally taken palonosetron is absorbed well from the gut and has a bioavailability of 97%. Highest blood plasma levels are reached after 5.1±1.7 hours, independently of food intake, and plasma protein binding is 62%.

Palonosetron is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the compound or any of its components. Palonosetron should be administered with caution in patients who have or may develop prolongation of cardiac conduction intervals, particularly QTc.
