Emgrast M 500mcg Injection is given as an injection by a qualified medical professional. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.
The most common side effects of this medicine include bone pain, decreased blood pressure, fever, and breathlessness. Other than this, pain or redness at the site of injection is common. But, inform your doctor if you notice a lump, swelling, or bruising that does not go away. It might not prevent you from all kinds of infection, hence inform your doctor if you notice fever, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, and swelling around the face or neck.
Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.
Emgrast M 500mcg Injection is a growth factor that stimulates the bone marrow to produce white blood cells. These cells protect the body against infections.
Sargramostim is used in the treatment of bone marrow transplant recipients or those exposed to chemotherapy an recovering from acut myelogenous leukemia, Leukine or GM-CSF is a hematopoietic growth factor which stimulates the survival, clonal expansion (proliferation) and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor .
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Before using sargramostim, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to yeast; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as benzyl alcohol), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Emgrast M 500mcg Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Emgrast M 500mcg Injection. Please consult your doctor.
Emgrast M 500mcg Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Acute myeloid leukemia (following induction chemotherapy): To shorten time to neutrophil recovery. Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (myeloid reconstitution): Acceleration of myeloid reconstitution in pediatric patients 2 years of age and older.
Drug-Drug Interactions: SARGRAMOSTIM may have interaction with medicines used for the treatment of beta-thalassemia (e.g. betibeglogene autotemcel)
Drug-Food Interactions: Limit or quit the consumption of alcohol.
Drug-Disease Interactions: SARGRAMOSTIM may cause interactions with disease conditions such as arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat), congestive heart failure, liver or renal dysfunction, leukocytosis (elevated white blood cell count), myeloproliferative disorder (blood cancers caused by changes in the stem cells inside bone marrow), prematurity/underweight in infancy and respiratory symptoms.
