Fosavance 70 mg/5600 IU Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alendronic Acid and Vitamin D3 which treat osteoporosis. Alendronic Acid is a bisphosphonate. It works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bone and minimizes the risk of fractures. Vitamin D3 helps protect your bones, both by increasing calcium absorption and by supporting muscles needed to avoid falls.
Combination therapy with a drug and a vitamin supplement is a useful method for treating vitamin insufficient osteoporotic patients. A single-tablet, once weekly formulation of alendronate 70 mg plus vitamin D3 2800 IU (ALN/D2800) was introduced to provide vitamin D3 to osteoporotic patients.
