Furox 125mg Tablet can be given either before or after meals but giving it with food improves absorption and reduces the chances of stomach upset in your child. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is already time for the next dose.
This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. These episodes should start receding after a few doses. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.
Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.
Furox 125mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Pharmacokinetic studies performed in adults have shown that cefuroxime axetil is well absorbed after oral administra- tion; peak concentrations of cefuroxime occur in serum approximately 2 h after oral administration of tablets (2, 4).
Furox 125mg Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give the double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
Only give Furox 125mg Tablet to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Discontinue giving Furox 125mg Tablet and consult the doctor immediately in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Furox 125mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Avoid Furox 125mg Tablet with dietary sodium.
Q. My child is underweight and is not growing as per his age. Is it safe to give Furox 125mg Tablet?
Use Furox 125mg Tablet with caution as it may be associated with blood clotting problems especially in children who are underweight and not growing adequately. This risk is further increased if the child has underlying liver and kidney disease. Consult your child’s doctor in such cases.
Q. My child is suffering from a seizure disorder. Can I give Furox 125mg Tablet to my child?
Furox 125mg Tablet may cause seizure activity, particularly in children who have kidney disease. So, Furox 125mg Tablet should be used with caution in children with a history of seizure disorder. If seizures occur, discontinue Furox 125mg Tablet and visit your child’s doctor right away.

An extra dose of Furox 125mg Tablet is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Furox 125mg Tablet to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.
