Gabapin 600 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called anticonvulsants which is used to treat some forms of epilepsy in adults. It is thought to work by slowing down nerve impulses in the brain which cause seizures (fits).

Pharmacokinets

Gabapentin is absorbed from the intestines by an active transport process mediated via an amino acid transporter, presumably, LAT2. As a result, the pharmacokinetics of gabapentin is dose-dependent, with diminished bioavailability and delayed peak levels at higher doses.

Gabapentin is indicated as monotherapy in the treatment of partial seizures with and without secondary generalisation in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above. Gabapentin is indicated for the treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain such as painful diabetic neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia in adults.
