GESIC contains Ibuprofen which belongs to the group of medicines called Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or Still's disease), arthritis of the spine, ankylosing spondylitis, swollen joints, frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendinitis, tenosynovitis, lower back pain, sprains and strains. This medicine can also be used to treat other painful conditions such as toothache, pain after operations, period pain, headache and migraine.
When your body is fighting an injury or infection, it naturally releases chemicals called prostaglandins which lead to fever, swelling and discomfort. GESIC blocks the effect of prostaglandins.
Before taking GESIC tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart disease. Pregnant and breastfeeding women must consult the doctor before taking this medicine. Avoid excessive use of painkillers, tell your doctor if you are already taking another painkiller before taking this medicine. The common side effects are dizziness, tiredness, headache, diarrhea, constipation and flatulence.
GESIC belongs to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID’s) which works by reducing hormones that cause pain and swelling in the body.
After oral administration, peak serum concentration is reached after 1–2 hours, and up to 99% of the drug is bound to plasma proteins. The majority of ibuprofen is metabolized and eliminated within 24 hours in the urine; however, 1% of the unchanged drug is removed through biliary excretion.

have a history of a strong, unpleasant reaction (hypersensitivity) to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
have a current or recent stomach ulcer, or you have had one in the past.
have severe heart failure.

GESIC is not recommended in late (last three months of) pregnancy and can be taken in the first six months of pregnancy on the advice of your doctor.
Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness, drowsiness and stomach problems such as bleeding in the stomach.
GESIC is not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

There are several blood thinners that can interact with ibuprofen. These include anticoagulants, such as warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven), apixaban (Eliquis), and rivaroxaban (Xarelto). Other blood thinners include antiplatelet medications, like clopidogrel (Plavix) and ticagrelor (Brilinta).

If you accidentally take too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting (may be blood streaked), headache, ringing in the ears, confusion and shaky eye movement. At high doses, drowsiness, chest pain, palpitations, loss of consciousness, convulsions (mainly in children), weakness, dizziness, blood in urine, cold body feeling and breathing problems.
Always take GESIC as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow whole, do not crush or chew. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depending on your age, body weight and severity of infection.
Is GESIC cause dizziness?
It may cause dizziness, consult your doctor for advice and avoid handling of heavy machines.
Is GESIC helpful in relieving stomach pain?
No, it should not be taken for stomach pain without consulting a physician.
