Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Gidihist 8mg Tablet is a histamine analog. It works by improving the blood flow in the inner ear which reduces the pressure of excess fluid there. Excess fluid can send signals to the brain causing nausea, dizziness or spinning sensations (symptoms of Ménière's disease). Gidihist 8mg Tablet additionally dampens down the nerve signals sent from the inner ear to the brain relieving the symptoms of Ménière's disease.

Pharmacokinets

Therefore, the pharmacokinetics of betahistine is based on the measurement of 2-PAA in plasma or urine, rather than of the parent drug [1–6]. Plasma level (Cmax) of 2-PAA reaches its maximum (Tmax) about 1 h after betahistine intake [1,3–6]. The terminal elimination half-life of 2-PAA is approximately 3 h.
