Mechanism Of Action

Gluconorm PG 2 Tablet PR is a medicine that helps to control high blood glucose (sugar) levels. It helps get rid of extra glucose from your body through urine. The insulin helps to lower your blood glucose levels and prevents them from rising after taking meals. You should keep taking it for as long as it is prescribed.

Pharmacokinets

Glimepiride is reported to undergo hepatic metabolism. Following either an intravenous or oral dose, glimepiride undergoes oxidative biotransformation mediated by CYP2C9 enzyme to form a major metabolite, cyclohexyl hydroxymethyl derivative (M1), that is pharmacologically active. The drug is widely distributed into body tissues including the intestine, liver, and kidney by organic cation transporters [6]. There is a large interindividual variability in metformin pharmacokinetics as measured by differences in trough steady-state metformin plasma concentration ranging from 54 to 4133 ng/ml.Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione that increases insulin sensitivity in target tissues. It is well-absorbed, with a mean absolute bioavailability of 83% and reaching maximum concentrations in around 1.5 hours. It is metabolised by the hepatic cytochrome P450 enzyme system.
