Gravitor SR Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time each day. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment. You should never stop this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor.
Some common side effects of using this medication are nausea, excessive salivation, diarrhea, blurred vision, shortness of breath, watery eyes, abdominal pain, and altered frequency of urination. Some other side effects that may be seen with it include sweating, headache, runny nose, and heartburn. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness. So, avoid doing any such work that requires focus and attention, such as driving or operating any machinery.
Before taking Gravitor SR Tablet, it is better to inform your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney problems, Parkinson's disease, asthma, or stomach disorders. Your blood pressure may decrease after taking this medicine, so it is better to monitor it and consult your doctor if it bothers you. This medicine may cause diarrhea, so drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding, before taking this medicine.
Gravitor SR Tablet increases the levels of acetylcholine (chemical messenger) which allows free transmission of signals across the nerves and muscles.
Pyridostigmine bromide is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with an absolute bioavailability of 10-20%. Following a single oral dose of 30 mg pyridostigmine bromide in the fasting state, the TMAX was 2.2 ± 1.0 hours. The pharmacokinetics of pyridostigmine bromide is linear over the dose range of 30-60 mg.

Pyridostigmine bromide tablets, USP are contraindicated in mechanical intestinal or urinary obstruction, and particular caution should be used in its administration to patients with bronchial asthma. Care should be observed in the use of atropine for counteracting side effects, as discussed below.
Gravitor SR Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Gravitor SR Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Gravitor SR Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pyridostigmine is indicated for the treatment of myasthenia gravis. When administered intravenously, it is indicated for the reversal or antagonism of the neuromuscular blocking effects of nondepolarizing muscle relaxants.
Drug-Drug Interactions: PYRIDOSTIGMINE may have interaction with anticholinergic (atropine, glycopyrrolate), corticosteroids (prednisone), and skeletal muscle relaxant (succinylcholine).
Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found/established.
Drug-Disease Interactions: PYRIDOSTIGMINE may have interactions with asthma, high blood pressure, glaucoma, bradycardia (slow heart rate), bronchospasm, Parkinsonism, seizures, hyperthyroidism, peptic ulcer disease, and coronary artery disease.

If you miss a dose of Gravitor SR Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Gravitor SR Tablet for treatment of myasthenia gravis.
It may also be used to treat inactivity of the muscle in the intestines (paralytic ileus) and difficulty in passing urine (urinary retention) after an operation.

Q. Does Gravitor SR Tablet cure myasthenia gravis? For how long do I need to take it?
Gravitor SR Tablet helps reduce and improve muscle weakness and hence relieves the symptoms of myasthenia gravis but does not cure it. The length of time for which you have to take Gravitor SR Tablet will depend on your needs. You should not stop taking Gravitor SR Tablet until and unless advised by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.
Q. Will Gravitor SR Tablet have any effect on my baby if I am breastfeeding?
A very small quantity of Gravitor SR Tablet passes into breast milk, which may or may not affect your baby. Ask your doctor if you can continue to breastfeed your baby.
Q. Can I take Gravitor SR Tablet for constipation?
No, Gravitor SR Tablet should not be taken for any type of constipation. It is used only when constipation occurs due to paralysis of the intestine and strictly on prescription by the doctor.
Q. Who should not take Gravitor SR Tablet?
Gravitor SR Tablet should not be taken by patients who are allergic to it. It should also be avoided by patients who are constipated or cannot urinate, unless the doctor has advised to use this medicine. This is because Gravitor SR Tablet is only used to treat certain types of constipation and inability to pass urine.
