Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of schizophrenia (a mental disorder in which a person develops unreal thoughts and behavior). It alters the thoughts and elevates the mood, improving the person’s ability to think, feel and behave.
Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet also helps by improving muscle control and reducing the stiffness of the muscle. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, constipation, dryness in mouth, sedation, abnormal heart rhythm, urinary retention, blurred vision, and nervousness. Initially, this medicine may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure when you change positions, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.
Before taking it, inform your doctor if you are suffering from thyroid or kidney problems, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, glaucoma, or any heart problems. You should not take this medicine if you are under the influence of alcohol or any sleep-inducing, cough, and/ or allergy medication. This medicine can also lead to weight gain, eat a healthy balanced diet, avoid snacking with high-calorie food, and exercise regularly.

Contraindications of Trifluoperazine 5mg + Trihexyphenidyl 2mg: Preexisting CNS depression and coma; bone marrow depression, blood dyscrasias, liver disease, hypersensitivity to phenothiazines, prolactin dependent tumours. Pregnancy (1st trimester), lactation.
Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Drug-Drug Interaction: TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXYPHENIDYL may have interaction with high blood pressure-lowering medicines (guanethidine), opioid pain killers (codeine), medicines used to decrease saliva and lung secretions (atropine, procyclidine), antipsychotics
Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It can cause dry mouth. Maintain good oral hygiene,drink water, chew sugarless gum, or suck on hard candy for the dry mouth.
It can make you more sensitive to changes in temperature. Drink plenty of liquids and dress appropriately.
To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma or trouble passing urine.
Do not stop taking Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.

Yes, the use of Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry. Try to avoid foods that are acidic (like lemons), spicy and salty.
