Salt Composition : Ifosfamide(1gm)


Do not take Holoxan 1Gm Injection if you are allergic to any of the ingredients present in it. Before using Ifopar 1Gm Injection tell your doctor if you are using any prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, or other herbal and dietary pills and supplements, if you are pregnant and/or breastfeeding, or if you have any upcoming surgeries. Also let your doctor know your history of medical problems, pre-existing diseases and current health conditions.

Ifopar 1Gm Injection is administered intravenously via injection, in doses prescribed by the doctor. Dosage depends on conditions such as medical condition, diet, age, and counteraction with other medicines.

Possible side effects of Ifopar 1Gm Injection include nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness, cough, headache, eye infections, muscle pain, joint pain, pain in lymph nodes, and narrowing of the bronchial smooth muscle. If you experience side effects other than the ones listed above, you need to contact your doctor for immediate medical assistance.

Mechanism Of Action

This medication falls under the category of an immunosuppressive chemotherapeutic agent. Its forms active metabolites which bind to many intracellular structures, including DNA. It forms inter and intrastrand cross-linking in the DNA. This leads to DNA inactivation and ultimately cell death.


Pharmacokinets

Ifosfamide is a prodrug that requires biotransformation to become cytotoxic. It is a structural isomer of cyclophosphamide from which it differs only in having the chlorethyl functions on different nitrogen atoms. This causes a considerable change in initial metabolism, although overall metabolism remains the same.

Contra Indications

Ifosfamide is avoided in severe thrombocytopenia and leukopenia cases due to its well-documented hematological toxicity. Ifosfamide is contraindicated in cases of severe renal and hepatic impairment, as it is metabolized by the liver and eliminated by the kidneys.

Pregnancy Related Information

Ifopar 1gm injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy.

There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.

Product And Alcohol Interaction

Ifopar 1gm injection may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.


Breast Feeding Related Information

Ifopar 1gm injection is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor.


Indications

Ifosfamide is an alkylating and immunosuppressive agent used in chemotherapy for the treatment of cancers, including testicular cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, osteocarcinoma, bladder cancer, small cell lung cancer, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: IFOSFAMIDE may interact with live attenuated vaccines, TNF- blockers (etanercept, adalimumab), antifungal (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole); antiepileptic ( carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital), antihypertensive (diltiazem, enalapril), antibiotic (amphotericin-B, rifampin), antipsychotics (clozapine), anti-metabolites (cisplatin).

Drug-Food Interactions: IFOSFAMIDE may interact with grapefruit, st. John's wort and alcohol increase the risk of side effects.

Drug-Disease Interactions: IFOSFAMIDE should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases, liver diseases, kidney diseases, bone marrow suppression, CNS toxicity, cystitis, and infections.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Ifosfamide, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
