You should continue to take this medicine for as long as the doctor advises and do not stop taking it suddenly.
Side effects associated with the use of this medicine include dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness of feet and hands), and flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk). However, these are usually temporary and usually resolve on their own. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or worry you.
It may also cause sleepiness at the beginning of your treatment, so do not drive, operate machinery, until you know how this medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from any heart problems, as the use of Imijet 500mg Injection is contraindicated in some heart diseases. Consult your doctor and stop this medicine if you develop severe chest or stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, or significantly high blood pressure, after taking this medicine.
Migraine headaches are thought to result from the dilatation (swelling) of blood vessels in the head. Imijet 500mg Injection works by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels in the head, stops transmission of pain signals to the brain, and blocks the release of chemicals that cause nausea and other migraine symptoms. This relieves the migraine attack.
Sumatriptan has a volume of distribution of 50±8L for a 6mg subcutaneous dose 7, or 2.7L/kg. Sumatriptan is 14%-21% bound to protein in circulation. Sumatriptan is predominantly metabolized by monoamine oxidase A 7,10,8,10,5,9. The main metabolites are the inactive indole acetic acid and indole acetic acid glucuronide.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
