Inlyta 5mg Tablet can be taken with or without food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.
The most common side effects of this medicine include high blood pressure, joint pain, and loss of appetite. Diarrhea, shortness of breath, can be serious sometimes so take medicine to treat it as prescribed by the doctor or stay hydrated. Your doctor may advise for regular blood pressure checkups while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you notice a severe headache, confusion, problems with your eyesight, nausea or vomiting.
Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, liver or bleeding problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.
Inlyta 5mg Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
Dose increase (up to a maximum of 10 mg twice daily) or reduction is permitted based on individual tolerability. Axitinib pharmacokinetics are dose-proportional within 1-20 mg twice daily, which includes the clinical dose range.

Inlyta 5mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Axitinib is used alone to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC, a type of cancer that begins in the cells of the kidneys) in people who have not been treated successfully with another medication.
Drug-Drug Interactions: AXITINIB may have interaction with strong CYP3A4/5 inhibitors (clarithromycin, diltiazem, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, ritonavir), strong CYP3A4/5 inducers (carbamazepine, rifampicin, phenytoin, phenobarbitone, dexamethasone).
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking.
Dug-Disease Interactions: Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, heart problems, GI perforation, lung toxicity, thyroid dysfunction, or thromboembolism before starting the treatment.

Also, if you feel sudden mood changes, fast heart rate, change in voice, fever, or chills, visit your doctor without delay.

Your doctor may advise you to undergo lab or medical tests such as blood pressure, thyroid function, kidney function, liver or pancreatic function tests, complete blood counts, urine tests, blood mineral levels including sodium or potassium before starting this medication. Women of childbearing age should have a pregnancy test before starting this medicine.
