Intacef Tazo 3000 mg/375 mg Injection acts by killing the bacteria responsible for infections.

However, bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy Ceftriaxone

Tazobactam inactivates this enzyme and hence helps Ceftriaxone to function optimally

Pharmacokinets

Ceftriaxone can be administered intravenously and intramuscularly, and the drug is completely absorbed. It is not available orally. Distribution: Ceftriaxone penetrates tissues and body fluids well, including cerebrospinal fluid to treat central nervous system infections.Tazobactum works by killing bacteria that cause infection. Tazobactam is in a class called beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying piperacillin. Antibiotics such as piperacillin and tazobactam injection will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Interactions

CEFTRIAXONE+TAZOBACTAM may interact with a blood thinner (heparin), drugs used to lower high uric acid levels (probenecid), neuromuscular blocking agent (vecuronium), anticancer drug (methotrexate), water tablet (furosemide) and antibiotics (chloramphenicol, gentamicin, streptomycin).
