Isonorm 10 Tablet should be taken empty stomach. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. This may change from time to time depending on how well they are working. You should take this medicine as it has been prescribed and keep taking it, even if you feel well. This medicine helps to prevent chest pain in the future. If you stop taking it, your risk of chest pain will increase, especially if you stop taking them suddenly. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this medication work better.

You can develop tolerance to this medicine over time, which means that the same dose becomes less effective. You have to stick to a really specific dosing schedule to prevent this from happening.

The most common side effects include headache, dizziness, changes to your heart rate, and flushing (warmth, redness, or a tingly feeling). Isonorm 10 Tablet is a nitrate. It reduces the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply.

Isosorbide mononitrate reduces the load on the heart by venous and arterial dilatation and can have a direct vasodilatory effect on the coronary arteries. By reducing end-diastolic pressure and volume, it lowers the pressure inside the ventricle and thus improves the subendocardial blood flow.

Product And Alcohol Interaction

Consuming alcohol while taking Isonorm 10 Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Isonorm 10 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Indications

Treatment of chronic angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease.

Along with non-selective beta-blockers (NSBB), it can be used as secondary prophylaxis in preventing recurrent variceal hemorrhage.

Interactions

Care should be exercised when ISOSORBIDE MONONITRATE is administered in combination with Sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil used to treat male erection dysfunction, Isosorbide dinitrate which is used for angina, Blood pressure-lowering drugs like ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers (atenolol, propranolol), calcium channel blockers (nifedipine, diltiazem), angiotensin-II receptor agonists (olmesartan medoxomil, candesartan cilexetil), clonidine, diazoxide, diuretics, methyldopa, moxonidine, Dihydorergotamine used for migraine & Tricyclic antidepressants (used to treat depression).

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Isonorm 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Along with this, also avoid taking other medicines belonging to similar classes such as vardenafil and tadalafil.
