Isotroy Solution for inhalation causes loss of consciousness which is reversible. It is administered under the supervision of a doctor or a nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. You should not self-administer this medicine.
The most common side effects include shivering, nausea, vomiting, high-grade fever, decreased blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Also, inform your doctor if you are on any medications or have any known allergy to this medicine before the start of the procedure. It may cause an increase in intracranial pressure which is the pressure inside the skull which can affect the ability to drive. It is also advised not to operate machinery because of these effects.
Isotroy Solution for inhalation is put into a special anaesthetic machine (vaporiser) where it becomes a gas. Thereafter, it mixes with the oxygen that you breathe in, and induces reversible loss of consciousness. This allows surgical procedures to be carried out without pain and distress.
Isoflurane is minimally metabolized by CYP2E1 to trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Only approximately 0.2% of isoflurane is metabolized [Article:25593732]. Isoflurane is considered less hepatotoxic compared to halothane and enflurane but some rare incidents of fatal hepatotoxocity have been reported [Article:25593732].
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
