Jalra-M 50mg/500mg Tablet can be prescribed alone or together with other diabetes medications. All diabetes medicines work best when used along with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Jalra-M 50mg/500mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Metformin and Vildagliptin. Metformin is an anti-diabetic medication (biguanide). It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
Metformin is rapidly distributed following absorption and does not bind to plasma proteins. No metabolites or conjugates of metformin have been identified. The absence of liver metabolism clearly differentiates the pharmacokinetics of metformin from that of other biguanides, such as phenformin.
Vildagliptin was rapidly absorbed, exhibiting a median tmax of 1.5 to 2 hours at all doses. Across the dose range of 25 to 200 mg, mean elimination half-life (t1/2) showed a trend toward increased values with increasing dose (1.6-2.5 hours).
