Larium 250mg Tablet is an antiparasitic medication which treats malaria. It works by increasing the levels of haeme in the blood, a substance toxic to the malarial parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading.
These have shown in healthy volunteers that mefloquine is absorbed with a half-life of 1 to 4 hours and a time to peak concentration of 7 to 24 hours (median 16.7 hours).

Mefloquine is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate cases of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. It is effective against chloroquine-resistant forms of Plasmodium falciparum.
