Give LC 2.5mg Tablet to your child by mouth with or without food in the dose and way prescribed by the doctor. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. The allergic symptoms may subside after your child has taken the initial few doses of LC 2.5mg Tablet. In case of serious allergic conditions, your child may have to continue taking the medicine for a week or two. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, let the child calm down and give the same dose again. However, do not repeat the dose if it is already time for the next dose.


After taking this medicine, your child may experience minor and temporary side effects like nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, sleepiness, and headache. These symptoms generally disappear within a few days. But, in case they persist or start bothering your child, it would be best to consult your child’s doctor without any delay.


Inform your child’s doctor if your child is on any medical regime or is allergic to any medicine, product, or food. Make sure the doctor knows if your child has or had any heart, liver, or kidney problems or was born prematurely. Any history regarding bowel obstruction, malnutrition, weight-related issues, and thyroid problems should also be well indicated to the doctor to avoid any complications in the treatment. LC 2.5mg Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called antihistamines. It blocks the natural chemical substance (histamine) produced in the body during an allergic state. It also subsides (lowers) your child’s immune system’s response to these conditions, thereby reducing the symptoms.

Pharmacokinets

Levocetirizine exhibited linear pharmacokinetics over the therapeutic dose range in adult healthy subjects. Levocetirizine is rapidly and extensively absorbed following oral administration. In adults, peak plasma concentrations are achieved 0.9 hour after administration of the oral tablet.

Side Effects

LC 2.5mg Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Contra Indications

Contraindications : Hypersensitivity to drug/class/component, End Stage Renal Disease, Hemodialysis, Renal impairment (6 mo-11 yo pts). Caution if renal impairment, CNS depressant use, alcohol use, prostatic hypertrophy, spinal cord injury.

Indications

Levocetirizine is used to relieve runny nose; sneezing; and redness, itching, and tearing of the eyes caused by hay fever, seasonal allergies, and allergies to other substances such as dust mites, animal dander, and mold. It is also used to treat symptoms of hives, including itching and rash.

Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction: LEVOCETIRIZINE have interactions with other antihistamines (such as diphenhydramine), Antidepressant (such as duloxetine), pain killer (such as pregabalin), a medicine used to treat low blood pressure (such as midodrine), a medicine used to treat anxiety disorders and panic disorder (such as alprazolam), and anti-viral or anti-HIV drugs (ritonavir).

Drug-Food Interaction: Alcohol and St John's wort plant (a plant used as an anti-depressant) should not be used along with LEVOCETIRIZINE.

Drug-Disease Interaction: LEVOCETIRIZINE is contraindicated in kidney disease, epilepsy (fits), urinary bladder problem (Urinary Tract Obstruction) and alcoholism.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up on any missed dose, follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.

Try giving the medicines at the same time each day, to help you remember.

Your child may feel sleepy or dizzy after each dose of LC 2.5mg Tablet. If this happens, make your child sit or lie down and ask them to be careful while performing tasks that require mental focus.

Avoid giving LC 2.5mg Tablet with fatty meals and fruit juice as both can reduce the absorption of the medicine.

Dry mouth can occur as a side effect of taking LC 2.5mg Tablet. Taking sips of water may help.

LC 2.5mg Tablet can trigger constipation in your child. Give plenty of fluids and a fiber-rich diet to your child.

LC 2.5mg Tablet should be avoided in children who are less than 4 years of age as there is a risk of respiratory distress.
