Lemen 12.5mg Injection is administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the medicine for you. The doctor will closely monitor your blood pressure, heart rate, and ECG until you become stable. You can also improve the health of your heart by making some lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, cutting down on alcohol, eating well, taking regular exercise, and managing stress.
The most common side effects of this medicine include hypotension (low blood pressure), increased heart rate, nausea, constipation, and headache. This medicine may be used with caution for some people. Thus, you must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any liver or kidney disease. Also, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and about all the other medications that you are taking regularly.
Lemen 12.5mg Injection makes the heart pump blood with more strength and force, which increases the blood circulation throughout the body.
Levosimendan is normally administered in its intravenous form; however, oral and transdermal preparations also exist. The oral presentation has a bioavailability of 85%. It is 98% protein bound, has a pKa of 6.3 and a volume of distribution of 0.2 L/Kg.

The use of levosimendan is contraindicated in patients with moderate-to-severe kidney impairment, severe liver impairment, severe ventricular filling or outflow obstruction, very low blood pressure and fast heart rate, and/or history of the abnormal heart rhythm torsades de pointes.

Levosimendan is a calcium sensitizer indicated to treat acutely decompensated severe chronic heart failure. Levosimendan increases calcium sensitivity to myocytes by binding to troponin C in a calcium dependent manner. This increases contractility without raising calcium levels.
Drug-Drug Interactions: LEVOSIMENDAN may have interaction with medications used to treat high blood pressure like Atenolol, drugs used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder like Atomoxetine. This is not a complete list of all the possible drug interactions.
Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid consuming grapefruit and grapefruit juice with LEVOSIMENDAN. Do not take St. John’s wort (herbal supplement to treat depression) with LEVOSIMENDAN.
Drug-Disease Interaction: LEVOSIMENDAN may have interactions with disease conditions such as rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown), Reye’s syndrome, asthma, gout, glaucoma, liver disease, diabetes, and cognitive impairment.

Lemen 12.5mg Injection is given as a drip into a vein (intravenous infusion) under the supervision of a doctor.
It makes you feel dizzy or lightheaded. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
You will be constantly monitored for changes in ECG, blood pressure and heart rate for at least 3 days after the treatment or until you become stable.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Q. Can Lemen 12.5mg Injection be given to patients with liver disease?
Lemen 12.5mg Injection must be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver<br>impairment although no dose adjustment appears necessary for these patients. It should not be used in patients with severe liver disease.
Q. Can Lemen 12.5mg Injection lower blood pressure?
Yes, Lemen 12.5mg Injection can lower your blood pressure. Your blood pressure will be closely monitored after administration of Lemen 12.5mg Injection.
Q. Can Lemen 12.5mg Injection be given to patients with kidney disease?
Lemen 12.5mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment since impaired kidney function may lead to accumulation of the drug in the body leading to unwanted side effects.
Q. What test will be prescribed before and during treatment with Lemen 12.5mg Injection?
Lemen 12.5mg Injection may result in a decrease in your potassium and hemoglobin level. Thus your doctor will prescribe tests to monitor them regularly.
