Lubowel 24 Soft Gelatin Capsule is taken after meals to avoid nausea in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are nausea, diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain, and flatulence. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration. Lifestyle modifications like having fiber rich diet and regular exercise can help you to get better results.
Before taking this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have liver and kidney problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor. You may have difficulty in breathing after taking this medicine which generally resolves within three hours but may recur with repeat dosing.
Lubowel 24 Soft Gelatin Capsule increases the secretion of fluids in the intestine, which in turn increases the motility of the intestine, thereby making the stool soft and easier to pass.
Lubiprostone is a bicyclic fatty acid metabolite analogue of prostaglandin E1. It activates specific chloride channels in the gastrointestinal tract to stimulate intestinal fluid secretion, increase gastrointestinal transit, and improve symptoms of constipation.

Lubowel 24 Soft Gelatin Capsule is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Lubiprostone is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with chronic idiopathic constipation, or opioid-induced constipation in patients with chronic non-cancer pain. It is also indicated for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in female patients ≥18 years old.
Drug-Drug Interaction: LUBIPROSTONE may interact with anticancer (idelalisib), and pain killer (methadone); tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.

Drug-Disease Interaction: LUBIPROSTONE may interact with intestinal obstruction disorder, appendicitis, intestinal blockage, bowel inflammation, liver impairment and dyspnea (shortness of breath).
