Lup Inh 300mg Tablet should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It is to be taken on an empty stomach. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early can result in treatment failure and increase the side effects too. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.
Some common side effects of this medicine include tingling and numbness of feet and hand (peripheral neuropathy). Inform your doctor if you notice signs of jaundice, i.e., yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, or joint pain. You may also develop hepatitis (viral infection of the liver) or increased liver enzymes as side effects of this medicine. Please consult your doctor, as these side effects require medical attention and need dose modification.
Your doctor may monitor your liver function while on treatment with this medicine. Avoid drinking alcohol as this may have additional adverse effects on the liver. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.
Lup Inh 300mg Tablet is an antibiotic used for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis (TB) and inactive (latent) TB (a serious infection caused by bacteria that affects the lungs and in certain cases other parts of the body). It works by killing the bacteria that cause tuberculosis.
The antimicrobial activity of INH is selective for mycobacteria, likely due to its ability to inhibit mycolic acid synthesis, which interferes with cell wall synthesis, thereby producing a bactericidal effect
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

If you are suffering from any of the following diseases, you should not take Isoniazid unless your doctor advises you to do so -

Lup Inh 300mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Consuming alcohol while taking Lup Inh 300mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Lup Inh 300mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Isoniazid is an antibiotic used in the treatment of mycobacterium tuberculosis infections. This activity describes the indications, action, and contraindications for isoniazid as a valuable agent in treating both active and latent tuberculosis infection.
Isoniazid may interact with foods containing tyramine/histamine (such as cheese, red wine, certain types of fish). This interaction may cause increased blood pressure, flushing of the skin, headache, dizziness, or fast/pounding heartbeat. Tell your doctor right away if any of these symptoms occur.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Lup Inh 300mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Lup Inh 300mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Your doctor has prescribed Lup Inh 300mg Tablet to cure your infection and improve symptoms.
It is best taken on an empty stomach.
You must also take a vitamin B6 supplement while on Lup Inh 300mg Tablet.
Tell your doctor immediately if you experience vision changes, loss of appetite, tiredness, stomach pain, nausea or vomiting, yellow skin or eyes or dark-colored urine.

Avoid Lup Inh 300mg Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Q. Is Lup Inh 300mg Tablet a MAOI?
Lup Inh 300mg Tablet has very weak inhibitory activity on enzymes monoamine oxidases (MAO); however it is not used as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)

Lup Inh 300mg Tablet is an inhibitor (decreases activity) of an important liver enzyme system that is responsible for the final processing and elimination of several drugs from the body
Q. Can I take isoniazid with ibuprofen/Benadryl/Nyquil/Aleve/Mucinex/amoxicillin?
There no known serious drug interactions of isoniazid with ibuprofen, paracetamol (trade name: Tylenol), naproxen (trade name: Aleve), amoxicillin or any active drug present in Nyquil or Mucinex. Please inform your doctor about all the medication you are currently taking to avoid interactions that may reduce effectiveness of any treatment or aggravate side effects
Q. Does Lup Inh 300mg Tablet cause weight loss/weight gain/hair loss/diarrhea/affect menstruation?
Changes in body weight (gain/loss), hair loss, diarrhea or changes in menstruation are not among the known side effects of Lup Inh 300mg Tablet. You may experience few of these side effects while on multi drug (including Lup Inh 300mg Tablet) treatment for tuberculosis
Q. Does Lup Inh 300mg Tablet cause acne/make you tired/cause constipation?
You may experience unusual tiredness, constipation or acne while on treatment with Lup Inh 300mg Tablet. Please inform your doctor about all the medication you are currently taking to avoid interactions that may reduce effectiveness of any treatment or aggravate side effects
Q. Does Lup Inh 300mg Tablet affect birth control?
Lup Inh 300mg Tablet has no known interaction with commonly used oral contraceptives (birth control pills). However, multidrug treatment for tuberculosis contains active drug rifampin that decreases the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and hampers birth control.
