Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Lupiflex 8 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Ketoprofen and Thiocolchicoside which relieve pain and relax the muscles. Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant. It works by acting on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles.

Pharmacokinets

Ketoprofen binds extensively to plasma albumin, apparently in a stereoselective manner. Substantial concentrations of the drug are attained in synovial fluid, the proposed site of action of NSAIDs. It is eliminated following extensive biotransformation to inactive glucuroconjugated metabolite.Thiocolchicoside is broken down in the body to a metabolite called 3-demethylthiocolchicine (also known as SL59. 0955 or M2) that could damage dividing cells therefore inducing toxicity in the embryo, neoplastic changes and fertility reduction in males.
