Lupirtin -SR Tablet decreases the perception of pain by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain.


Pharmacokinets

Flupirtine acts indirectly as N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist by activation of K+ channels[3] Flupirtine causes a dose-dependent reduction of NMDA receptor mediated glutamate induced rise in intracellular Ca++ concentration.

Flupirtine is used as an analgesic for acute pain, in moderate-to-severe cases. Its muscle relaxant properties make it popular for back pain and other orthopaedic uses, but it is also used for migraines, in oncology, postoperative care, and gynaecology.

Interactions

Drugs containing painkillers (nimesulide, paracetamol), blood clotting agents (warfarin), blood pressure-lowering agents (hydrochlorothiazide),anti-epilepsy medicine (carbamazepine), medicines for mania (lithium) should not be taken with FLUPIRTINE as they may interact with FLUPIRTINE.
