Lurafic 80mg Tablet should be taken with food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, dryness in the mouth, and insomnia (difficulty sleeping). It also causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts while taking this medicine.
This medicine may increase your weight but, modifying your lifestyle by having a healthy diet and exercising regularly can reduce this side effect. You should be cautious as in rare cases it may cause serious side effects like high blood sugar levels or seizures.
Lurafic 80mg Tablet work by modulating the action of certain chemical messengers in the brain that affects thoughts.
The pharmacokinetics of LATUDA is dose-proportional within a total daily dose range of 20 mg to 160 mg. Steady-state concentrations of LATUDA are reached within 7 days of starting LATUDA. Following administration of 40 mg of LATUDA, the mean (%CV) elimination half-life was 18 (7) hours.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Lurafic 80mg Tablet.
Lurafic 80mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Lurasidone is used to treat symptoms of psychotic (mental) disorders, such as schizophrenia. This medicine should not be used to treat behavioral problems in elderly patients who have dementia. It may be used alone or with other medicines (eg, lithium, valproate) to treat depression caused by bipolar disorder.
LURASIDONE may interact with antiparkinsons medicines (levodopa), medicines for migraine (ergotamine), medicines for allergic conditions (terfenadine, astemizole), medicines for digestive disease (cisapride), antipsychotic medicines (pimozide), medicine for heart disease (quinidine), chest pain (bepridil), antidepressants (moclobemide, tranylcypromine, citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline, duloxetine, venlafaxine, amitriptyline, doxepin, trimipramine).
Do not chew, crush or break it. Lurafic 80mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

If you miss a dose of Lurafic 80mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Lurafic 80mg Tablet should be avoided during pregnancy unless this has been prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will monitor your baby closely after birth because giving Lurafic 80mg Tablet during the last 3 months to the mother may cause shaking, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems, difficulty in feeding and muscle stiffness and/or weakness in the baby.

Lurafic 80mg Tablet may cause an increase in blood sugar levels in diabetic patients or those having risk factors for diabetes. It may also decrease white blood cell count and increase prolactin, cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Therefore, during treatment with Lurafic 80mg Tablet, your doctor may get blood tests done to check for blood sugar levels, blood cell counts, prolactin levels (hormone) and cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
