Maast 10mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you.
It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had severe liver problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You must inform your doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Maast 10mg Tablet works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.
Montelukast is quickly absorbed following oral administration. After the 10 mg film-coated tablet is administered to fasted adults, the mean peak montelukast plasma concentration (C max) is achieved in 3 to 4 hours (T max).
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Contraindicated in patients with any previous sensitivity to montelukast. Not used to treat acute asthma attacks and cannot substitute inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Monitor for eosinophilia, vasculitic rash, worsening of pulmonary symptoms, cardiac complications and neuropathy.
Maast 10mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Maast 10mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Maast 10mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Montelukast is an orally dosed drug (available as a film-coated tablet, chewable tablet, or oral granules) that is FDA-approved for treating chronic asthma and prophylaxis and the prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. It is also approved to relieve seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis symptoms.
Drug-Drug Interactions: MONTELUKAST may have an interaction with pain killers (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac), blood thinners (aspirin), antiallergic medications (cetirizine), antiasthma drugs (salmeterol, albuterol, formoterol), anti-hypertensive medication (metoprolol), and anti-epilepsy medications (phenobarbital, phenytoin).
Drug-Food Interactions: MONTELUKAST may interact with a multi-mineral or other herbal/ayurvedic supplements, St. John's wort plant (used for depression). So, if you are using any of the OTC items, please tell your doctor.
Drug-Disease Interactions: Patients affected with liver/kidney disease, epilepsy, and phenylketonuria should not take MONTELUKAST as it has severe interaction.

If you miss a dose of Maast 10mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n \n

Q. Why do you have to take Maast 10mg Tablet at night?
Usually, it is recommended to take Maast 10mg Tablet in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Maast 10mg Tablet is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.
Q. Is Maast 10mg Tablet a steroid?
No, Maast 10mg Tablet is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
Q. Does Maast 10mg Tablet make you drowsy?
An uncommon side effect of Maast 10mg Tablet is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.
Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Maast 10mg Tablet?
Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Maast 10mg Tablet as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Maast 10mg Tablet may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.
