Magflux Syrup may be taken with or without food preferably at bedtime in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine. Remember you should avoid this medicine, if you have signs of appendicitis or inflamed bowel (such as lower abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, nausea, vomiting).


It is important to consult a doctor before taking this medicine if you are suffering from severe constipation, severe stomach, or kidney disease. It is an effective medicine with very little or no side effects however it may cause constipation, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

Mechanism Of Action

Magflux Syrup is an antacid and alkalizer. It neutralizes gastric acid in the stomach thereby reducing the direct acid irritant effect. It is also known to inhibit the activity of the enzyme pepsin thereby helping with heartburn.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics: Does not appear to be absorbed from GI tract. Excreted unchanged in feces. Available Forms: Softgel: 125 mg (Alka-Seltzer Gas Relief, Gas-X, Mylanta Gas), 180 mg (Phazyme).

Hypersensitivity, renal disease, Mg-restricted diet, while taking citrate salts found in calcium supplements, antacids and laxatives.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Magflux Syrup.

Magflux Syrup is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Interactions

The therapeutic efficacy of Magnesium citrate can be decreased when used in combination with Magaldrate. The therapeutic efficacy of Magnesium hydroxide can be decreased when used in combination with Magaldrate.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Magflux Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n

The Magflux Syrup should be used only for occasional relief from increased stomach acid. Do not take it for more than 2 weeks, unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor.

Do not take the Magflux Syrup at least 2 hours before or after taking other medicines. It may interact with other medicines.
