MESNA 200MG INJECTION is also used to reduce the risk of bleeding from bladder when Ifosfamide is used as a chemotherapy drug in affected individuals.


MESNA 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Mesna.


Before receiving MESNA 200MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have liver problems (such as hepatic impairment), and/or kidney problems (such as renal impairment).


MESNA 200MG INJECTION is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy as it is not known whether the medicine can cause harm to the unborn baby. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.


MESNA 200MG INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) only if necessary since it is not known whether the medicine is safe and effective in children. It is also advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years/above) after consulting the doctor.


The most common side effects of taking MESNA 200MG INJECTION are headaches, dizziness, constipation, flu like symptoms, sore throat, fever, cough, and/or diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

MESNA 200MG INJECTION works by protecting the lining of bladder and kidney from by-products of cyclophosphamide & ifosfamide which gets formed in the body after its administration as a chemotherapy medicine in affected individuals.

Mean (coefficient of variation [CV%]) mesna pharmacokinetic parameter estimates were as follows: Vss of 15.3 (29) L/m2, CL of 4.6 (29) L/h/m2, and half-life of 2.2 (37) hours.

Contra Indications

Serious skin reactions can occur with this medicine. Check with your doctor right away if you have blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, red skin lesions, severe acne or skin rash, sores or ulcers on the skin, or fever or chills while you are using this medicine.

Pregnancy Related Information

MESNA 200MG INJECTION is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy unless it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.


Breast Feeding Related Information

MESNA 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before receiving the medicine.


Indications

Mesna is a prophylactic medication to reduce the incidence of ifosfamide-induced hemorrhagic cystitis.[1]

It is important to recognize that mesna is not indicated to decrease the risk of hematuria due to thrombocytopenia.

Mesna has no noted serious interactions with any other drugs. Mesna has no noted moderate interactions with any other drugs. Mesna has no noted minor interactions with any other drugs.

Effects Of Overdose

MESNA 200MG INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, headache, fatigue, limb and joint pains, rash, flushing, low blood pressure, slow/fast heart, paraesthesia (tingling/numbness in legs/arms), fever, and/or bronchospasm.


How To Use

MESNA 200MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
