Micartel 40mg Tablet can be prescribed either alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food during the day or at night. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, telmisartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Telmisartan works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secretory effects of angiotensin II. Telmisartan interferes with the binding of angiotensin II to the angiotensin II AT1-receptor by binding reversibly and selectively to the receptors in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland.
