Midacip Nasal is taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional only or used after the proper guidance of a doctor. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor as it has a high potential of habit-forming.
If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may cause nausea and anxiety.
Side effects of this medicine include sleepiness, headache, nasal discomfort, throat irritation, and rhinorrhea (runny nose). Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. These side effects are usually short-lasting and resolve on their own. Consult your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. Do inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding, before taking this medicine.
Midacip Nasal is a benzodiazepine (BZD). It is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream through the inner lining of the nose. Once absorbed, it works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. This helps the patient to recover from a seizure faster.
The pharmacokinetic variables of midazolam reveal that it is cleared significantly more rapidly than diazepam and lorazepam. The rapid redistribution of midazolam and high rate of liver clearance account for its relatively short hypnotic and hemodynamic effects.

midazolam is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to the drug. Benzodiazepines are contraindicated in patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma. Benzodiazepines may be used in patients with open-angle glaucoma only if they are receiving appropriate therapy.
Midacip Nasal is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
No interaction found/established
Midacip Nasal is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Midacip Nasal should be used for short periods and sleepiness of the baby should be watched. The withdrawal of Midacip Nasal should be gradual.
Intravenous midazolam is used for the induction of anesthesia and also in the management of acute seizures. Because of its water-soluble nature, midazolam has a rapid onset of action and can be used to manage status epilepticus when intravenous administration of other medications is not feasible.
