Miofree 8mg Capsule is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm without reduction in strength. This improves pain and movement of muscles.


Pharmacokinets

Thiocolchicoside is broken down in the body to a metabolite called 3-demethylthiocolchicine (also known as SL59. 0955 or M2) that could damage dividing cells therefore inducing toxicity in the embryo, neoplastic changes and fertility reduction in males.

Indications

Thiocolchicoside is a skeletal muscle-relaxant drug used in the treatment of orthopedic, traumatic and rheumatologic disorders 18. It is indicated as an adjuvant drug in the treatment of painful muscle contractures and is indicated in acute spinal pathology, for adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older 15.

Interactions

This medicine contains a combination of Aceclofenac and Thiocolchicoside. Thus any interaction associated with any one of these can happen with this combination

Increased risk of stomach bleeding, if you take other pain killers, steroids, antidepressants like Fluoxetine or Clopidogrel along with this medicine

This medicine interferes with the way medicines for high blood pressure works like Enalapril, Captopril and water pill

Concomitant use of Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus (used in organ transplant) can lead to serious kidney damage

There is an increased risk of bleeding if this medicine is taken along with other medicines like Warfarin

You may experience fluctuations in blood sugar if you are taking anti-diabetic medicines like Glimepiride or Metformin

Do not take Miofree A 8mg Tab, if you have taken Mifepristone lately (within 2 weeks)

This medicine can worsen the heart failure problem if taken with medicine for heart failure like Digoxin

You may experience fits if you are taking antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin, Norfloxacin and Ofloxacin

Other medicines like Lithium, Methotrexate and Zidovudine

Medicines used to treat anxiety and pain like Clonazepam, Zolpidem and Alprazolam

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Miofree 8mg Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
