Mircera 50mcg Injection is generally given by a doctor or a nurse. Do not self-administer this medicine at home. The dose depends on your body weight and the severity of your condition. Get the injection regularly until you completed the dose. Iron supplements both before and during treatment may make this treatment more effective.
Use of this medicine may cause some common side effects such as headache, diarrhea, body aches, and vomiting. These side effects persist or get worse, let your doctor know. They may be able to suggest ways to prevent or treat them.
Before using the medicine, tell your doctor if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or gout (disease of joint pain). You should also tell him/her what other medicines you are taking in case they affect this treatment. Your blood pressure should be checked often during this treatment by you or your doctor. You may also need other regular medical tests to be sure this medicine is not causing harmful effects. It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
It works by signaling the bone marrow to make more red blood cells. Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta helps to reverse anemia. It also helps to reduce the need for blood transfusions. This medication is very similar to the natural substance in your body (erythropoietin) that prevents anemia.
(methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta), a continuous erythropoietin receptor activator, differs from traditional erythropoiesis-stimulating agents in its pharmacokinetic and receptor binding properties.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

You should not use epoetin beta and methoxy polyethylene glycol if you are allergic to epoetin beta or methoxy polyethylene glycol, or if you have: uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure); or. if you have ever had a type of anemia called pure red cell aplasia (PRCA).
Mircera 50mcg Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Mircera 50mcg Injection. Please consult your doctor.
Mircera 50mcg Injection should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta injection is used to treat anemia in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who may or may not be on dialysis or in children with CKD who are on dialysis. This medicine is not used to treat anemia caused by cancer medicines.
The risk or severity of Thrombosis can be increased when Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta is combined with Aminoglutethimide. The risk or severity of Thrombosis can be increased when Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta is combined with Aminolevulinic acid.

Store in a refrigerator (2 - 8°C). Do not freeze.
If you miss a dose of Mircera 50mcg Injection, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Your doctor may get your blood tests done regularly to monitor the levels of hemoglobin, blood cells and electrolytes such as potassium in your blood.
Monitor your blood pressure regularly while taking this medication. Inform your doctor if you notice symptoms of very high blood pressure such as severe headache, problems with your eyesight, nausea, vomiting or fits (seizures).
Stop taking Mircera 50mcg Injection and inform your doctor if you develop shortness of breath or skin rash.
It is given as a single injection under your skin.

Some of the serious side-effects of this medicine are diarrhea, nasopharyngitis (a common viral infection of the nose and throat), shortness of breath, and severe headache.
Inform your doctor if you had a heart attack or stroke in the month before your treatment, if you have new or increasing chest pain, or if you are at risk of blood clots in the veins.
Seek medical help immediately if you develop a rash, ulcers of mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes (red and swollen eyes) preceded by fever and/or flu-like symptoms.
