Mosapid 5mg Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you're given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are abdominal pain, headache, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), nausea, and vomiting. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.
Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. You should avoid this medicine if you are suffering from bleeding ulcers of the stomach. Consult with your doctor if are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Mosapid 5mg Tablet indirectly stimulates the release of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that can increase the motility of the intestine.
Mean concentrations of mosapride increased rapidly and reached the maximum 0.5-1 h after oral administration to male dogs and monkeys, followed by quick decrease with t1/2 of 1.5 and 0.9 h, respectively. The Cmax was 207 ng/ml in dogs and 862 ng/ml in monkeys.

MOSAPRIDE CITRATE (GASMOTIN) is contraindicated in the following patients: Patients with GI hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this product.

Mosapride has been investigated for the treatment and diagnostic of Constipation, Type 2 Diabetes, Functional Dyspepsia, Functional Constipation, and Epigastric Pain Syndrome, among others.
MOSAPRIDE may have interaction with antibiotics (erythromycin), anti-fungal (ketoconazole), anti-malarial (quinine), heart medicines (amiodarone, sotalol), anti-psychotic (haloperidol), antihistamine (terfenadine). Drug-Food Interactions: Avoid smoking, grapefruit juice and alcohol consumption.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Mosapid 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Mosapid 5mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Take it at the same time every day, either with or without food.
Do not skip any dose and finish the complete course as suggested by the doctor.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Mosapid 5mg Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Avoid alcohol and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated while taking this medicine.
