Your doctor will perform some regular blood tests to monitor any changes in your body. MYSTEAD 500 TABLET may increases the risk of skin cancer. Limit your exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet light by covering the exposed areas of skin as much as possible and by applying sunscreen with a high protective factor.


MYSTEAD 500 TABLET can cause birth defects and miscarriage, hence it is strictly not recommended for use in pregnant women and breastfeeding women.


MYSTEAD 500 TABLET is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.


MYSTEAD 500 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking MYSTEAD 500 TABLET.


The most common side effects of taking MYSTEAD 500 TABLET are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, high blood pressure, and low number of white blood cells. Contact your doctor if the above side effects worsen.

Mechanism Of Action

MYSTEAD 500 TABLET belongs to immunosuppressants which reduces the action of the body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ.


Pharmacokinets

Mycophenolate mofetil is rapidly absorbed in the small intestine. The maximum concentration of its active metabolite, MPA, is attained 60 to 90 minutes following an oral dose. The average bioavailability of orally administered mycophenolate mofetil in a pharmacokinetic study of 12 healthy patients was 94%.

RARE

Stop taking MYSTEAD 500 TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

Yellowish discoloration of skin and whites of eyes, nausea, loss of appetite and dark urine

Persistent cough or become breathlessness

Signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat, sweating, feeling tired, drowsy, or lack of energy

Blood vomit blood or blood in stools due stomach, or intestinal ulcer

Swelling of glands, development of a new skin growth or enlargement of an existing skin growth, or changes in an existing mole. may lead to development of cancer of the skin or lymph nodes

Rashes, swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty breathing


Contra Indications

Contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to mycophenolate mofetil, mycophenolic acid or any component of the drug product. With other immunosuppressive treatments, patients treated with mycophenolate are at increased risk of developing lymphomas, and other malignancies, particularly of the skin.


Pregnancy Related Information

MYSTEAD 500 TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Inform your doctor if you are planning to have a child before taking this medicine. Contact your doctor before taking MYSTEAD 500 TABLET.


Breast Feeding Related Information

MYSTEAD 500 TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women, hence small amounts of the medicine can pass into the mother’s milk. Contact your doctor before taking MYSTEAD 500 TABLET.


Indications

Mycophenolate mofetil is indicated in combination with other immunosuppressants to prevent the rejection of kidney, heart, or liver transplants in adult and pediatric patients ≥3 months old.

Interactions

Drug-Drug interactions: MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL may interact with an immunosuppressant (azathioprine), antiviral medications (aciclovir and ganciclovir), a medication used to treat tuberculosis (rifampicin), antacids such as proton pump inhibitors, medications used to treat chronic kidney failure such as phosphate binders, and an antibiotic (norfloxacin+metronidazole).

Drug-Dood interactions: Avoid alcohol consumption as it may worsen the condition by increasing the risk of side effects.

Drug-Disease interactions: MYCOPHENOLATE MOFETIL should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease, stomach ulcers, chronic infections and phenylketonuria.
