NAC SR 100 Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It should be taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. Inform your doctor if you have any history of heart disease or stroke.
The most common side effects of this medicine include edema, nausea, headache, dizziness, vomiting, constipation, itching, flatulence, pain in extremity, and indigestion. Your doctor may also regularly monitor your kidney function, liver function, and levels of blood components if you are taking this medicine for long-term treatment. Long-term use may lead to serious complications such as stomach bleeding and kidney problems.
NAC SR 100MG TABLET works by blocking the effect of an enzyme called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) that produces prostaglandins responsible for the sense of pain and inflammation. Thereby, provides relief from pain and inflammation.
Diclofenac is eliminated following biotransformation to glucoroconjugated and sulphate metabolites which are excreted in urine, very little drug is eliminated unchanged. The excretion of conjugates may be related to renal function.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Diclofenac is indicated for use in the treatment of pain and inflammation from varying sources including inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, as well as injury-related inflammation due to surgery and physical trauma.
DICLOFENAC may interact with painkillers (nimesulide, oxyphenbutazone, metamizole), anti-blood clotting agents (warfarin), blood pressure-lowering agents (hydrochlorothiazide) and medicines for mania (lithium). Inform your doctor if you are taking any of these.

If you miss a dose of NAC SR 100 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Patients who are at maximum risk of developing kidney problems include people who are dehydrated, have heart failure, impaired kidney function, hypertension, elderly, who are on medicines which cause excess urination (diuretics), or medicines which have significant impact on kidney function. Hence, for such patients kidney function monitoring is recommended.

It is important to know that NAC SR 100 Tablet may increase your chance of having a heart attack or stroke. The risk is more if you take higher doses and have been using the medicine for a longer time. Also, taking NAC SR 100 Tablet may cause ulcers, bleeding, or holes in your stomach and intestine. These problems may happen without warning symptoms at any time during treatment and may even cause death. Therefore, if you encounter any such problems, consult your doctor immediately.
Q. Can NAC SR 100 Tablet be taken during pregnancy?
You should not take NAC SR 100 Tablet during the last 3 months of pregnancy as it may cause harmful effects on your baby. Use of NAC SR 100 Tablet can also lead to reduced labor (premature delivery). Hence, it is advised to avoid using NAC SR 100 Tablet during the first 6 months of pregnancy also. In some cases, NAC SR 100 Tablet may be prescribed in pregnant women only if the benefits outweigh the risks involved with its use in pregnant women.
