The dose and frequency depend on what you are taking it for and the severity of your condition. It may be taken empty stomach or with a meal, but take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It may take several weeks before you get the full benefit of this medicine and you may need to take it for the rest of your life. However, it is important to continue taking it even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill and if you stop taking it, your condition may worsen. Lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, exercise, and no smoking help to enhance the working of this medicine.
The main side effects of this medicine are fatigue, headache, slow heart rate, feeling dizzy, and nausea. These are usually mild and short-lived. It may also cause shortness of breath or low blood pressure in some people. To reduce the risk of side effects your doctor will probably start the medicine at a low dose and gradually increase it. Consult your doctor if the side effects bother you or do not go away.

NEBIVOLOL may interact with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), diuretics (chlorthalidone, indapamide, furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide), anti-hypertensives (amlodipine, valsartan), PDE5 inhibitors (tadalafil, sildenafil), anxiolytics (alprazolam, diazepam), drugs used to treat heart problems (digoxin, epinephrine).
Do not chew, crush or break it. Nebistar 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Nebistar 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Now that my blood pressure has become normal, can I stop taking Nebistar 10 Tablet?
No, you should not stop taking Nebistar 10 Tablet even if you start feeling better. Nebistar 10 Tablet controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. If you stop Nebistar 10 Tablet suddenly, you may increase your chances of having angina, heart attack, or irregular heart-beat. Talk to your doctor who may advise you to decrease the dose gradually over 1 to 2 weeks.
Q. What can happen if I take more than the recommended doses of Nebistar 10 Tablet?
Taking more than the recommended doses of Nebistar 10 Tablet may cause very slow heart-beat, low blood pressure with possible fainting, difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, and acute heart failure. In case you take excess of Nebistar 10 Tablet, contact your doctor immediately.
Q. Can Nebistar 10 Tablet be taken if I am taking ibuprofen?
You have to be careful while taking both ibuprofen and Nebistar 10 Tablet and keep monitoring your blood pressure on a regular basis. The reason being, ibuprofen may interfere with the working of Nebistar 10 Tablet and your blood pressure may increase. Similarly, discontinuing ibuprofen may decrease your blood pressure. This is usually seen in cases where ibuprofen is used for a longer time.
Q. I am a diabetic. Can taking Nebistar 10 Tablet affect my blood sugar levels?
No, Nebistar 10 Tablet does not have any effect on blood sugar levels. However, keep tracking your blood sugar levels because use of Nebistar 10 Tablet may mask the symptoms of low blood sugar levels, like fast heartbeat and palpitations.

Nebistar 10 Tablet should not be used during pregnancy since it decreases blood supply to the unborn baby which can result in death of the child in the womb. Decreased blood supply can slow down or retard the growth of the baby and may even lead to abortion or early labor. Inform your doctor that you are using Nebistar 10 Tablet if you have become pregnant, so that the doctor can change your medication.
