Nocturin 2.5mg Tablet is advised to take it in a dose and duration as per prescription. It should be taken on an empty stomach at least an hour before having a meal. Swallow the medicine as a whole without crushing or chewing it. You should not stop taking the medicine without consulting the doctor as it may lead to the worsening of your symptoms.

Some common side effects of this medicine are dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, and headache. Drink plenty of water to reduce these side effects. It may also make you feel dizzy or sleepy or experience blurry vision, so it advised not to drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you. Consumption of alcohol must be avoided as it can aggravate the side effects. If any of the side effects bother you or persist, consult the doctor without delay.

Mechanism Of Action

Oxybutynin acts to relax the bladder by inhibiting the muscarinic action of acetylcholine on smooth muscle, and not skeletal muscle. The active of oxybutynin is metabolite is N-desethyloxybutynin. It competitively inhibits the postganglionic type 1, 2 and 3 muscarinic receptors.

Pharmacokinets

Excretion Oxybutynin is extensively metabolized by the liver, with less than 0.1% of the administered dose excreted unchanged in the urine. Also, less than 0.1% of the administered dose is excreted as the metabolite desethyloxybutynin.

Contra Indications

Oxybutynin is contraindicated in patients with urinary retention, bladder obstruction, poorly controlled narrow-angle glaucoma, obstructive gastric disorders, or gastric dysmotility. In addition, it should not be used in patients who have hypersensitivity to the drug or its components.

Pregnancy Related Information

Nocturin 2.5mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.


Product And Alcohol Interaction

Nocturin 2.5mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.


Breast Feeding Related Information

Nocturin 2.5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Nocturin 2.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
