Avoid consumption of alcohol during treatment with NORIP 25MG TABLET. NORIP 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having heart or liver diseases, or mania.
Before taking NORIP 25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have thyroid problems, diabetes, fits, glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), or an enlarged prostate. The safety of NORIP 25MG TABLET for use during pregnancy has not been established. NORIP 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use among breastfeeding women, therefore consult your doctor before taking.
NORIP 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). If you have thoughts of harming or killing yourself at any time, contact your doctor or go to hospital immediately.
The most common side effects of taking NORIP 25MG TABLET are allergic reaction, chest pain, headache, dizziness, or confusion. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.
NORIP 25MG TABLET works by interrupting the reabsorption of serotonin and norepinephrine (neurotransmitters) within your brain, which enables a higher supply of neurotransmitters for your brain to regulate the mood and Increased regulation of chemicals maintains a balance mood.
Nortriptyline is readily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract with extensive variation in plasma levels, depending on the patient. This drug undergoes first-pass metabolism and its plasma concentrations are attained within 7 to 8.5 hours after oral administration.

Stop taking NORIP 25MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Sudden wheeziness, trouble breathing, swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash, or itching, especially affecting your whole body
Signs of heart attack (sudden chest pain spreading to the neck or arm, with breathlessness and a clammy feeling)
Signs of stroke (sudden collapse, numbness or weakness in the hands or legs, headache, dizziness and confusion, trouble in vision and swallowing, slurred, mixed up or loss of speech)
Inflammation of the liver, yellowish skin or whites of your eyes, dark urine, pale stools, tiredness, fever, nausea, weakness, drowsiness, stomach pain
Thoughts of harming or killing yourself
Paralysed intestine (constant constipation with a swollen stomach, fever, vomiting)
Effects on blood or bone marrow (the number of red cells, white cells and platelets are reduced and can cause bruising, bleeding, pallor or persistent sore throat and fever)
Finally, nortriptyline is contraindicated during the acute recovery period after myocardial infarction. The use of nortriptyline is also contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to nortriptyline or its components.

Nortriptyline is indicated for use in the treatment of depression (FDA-approved). It can also be used off-label for conditions such as chronic pain, diabetic neuropathy, myofascial pain, orofacial pain, and postherpetic neuralgia.
Drug-Drug Interaction: NORTRIPTYLINE may have interaction with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used to treat depression) (moclobemide, phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide, tranylcypromine, selegiline) medicine to treat high blood pressure (diltiazem, verapamil, guanethidine, debrisoquine, bethanidine, clonidine, reserpine, methyldopa ) pain killers (tramadol, trazodone, hydrocodone, oxycodone, acetaminophen), antidepressant (bupropion, duloxetine, fluoxetine, sertraline), antihistamine (diphenhydramine, cetirizine), sedatives (zolpidem), muscle relaxant (cyclobenzaprine), medicines to treat fungal infections (fluconazole, terbinafine, ketoconazole, and itraconazole), anti-thyroid (levothyroxine).
Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid St. John´s Wort (a herbal remedy used for depression) and alcohol as it may increase the risk of side effects when taken along with NORTRIPTYLINE.
Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have suicidal ideation or behavior, have disease conditions such as heart disease, seizure disorders, bone marrow suppression, diabetes, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, acute alcohol intoxication, glaucoma, thyroid problems, kidney and liver problems.

Symptoms of overdosage of NORIP 25MG TABLET may include confusion, restlessness, agitation, disturbed concentration, transient visual hallucinations, dilated pupils, hyperactive reflexes, stupor (near unconsciousness), drowsiness, muscle rigidity, vomiting, or hypothermia.
Take NORIP 25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking NORIP 25MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.
