Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet should be taken with food as it reduces the side effects with this medicine. It should be taken at the same time each day, this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor as it may result in a worsening of symptoms.
Some common side effects of this medicine include dilation of the pupil, blurring of vision, lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and constipation. It also causes dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Dry mouth may occur commonly while using this medicine so, try to do frequent mouth rinses, maintain good oral hygiene, and increase water intake. Avoid wearing contact lenses as it may cause dry eyes as well. It is important to inform your doctor if you suffer from glaucoma or have trouble passing urine.
Before using Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet, you should tell your doctor if you've ever had heart problems, problems with passing urine, liver or kidney disease. It may also affect, or be affected by, some other drugs you are using so let your doctor know what these are to be safe. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before starting treatment with this medicine.
Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet is a muscle relaxing medication. It works by decreasing the activity of excess acetylcholine in the brain. This improves muscle control and reduces stiffness. It helps patients with Parkinson's disease by improving muscle control and reducing stiffness so that they can move more naturally. It is also used to treat movement disorder (restlessness, involuntary movements or muscle spasm ) which can be caused by certain drugs.
Procyclidine is adequately absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with a bioavailability of 75% and disappears rapidly from the tissue.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Procyclidine is indicated in all forms of Parkinson's disease: idiopathic (paralysis agitans), post encephalitic and arteriosclerotic.
Drug-Drug interactions: PROCYCLIDINE may have interaction with antipsychotic (aripiprazole, lurasidone, olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine, trifluoperazine), MAO inhibitor (rasagiline), antihistamine (diphenhydramine), anti-cholinergic (benztropine), anti-convulsant (clonazepam, lamotrigine, pregabalin), anti-depressants (escitalopram, duloxetine) anti-anxiety (alprazolam), and mild pain killers/fever-reducing agent (acetaminophen).
Drug-Food interactions: Avoid consuming alcohol with PROCYCLIDINE as it might increase dizziness, and drowsiness.
Drug-Disease interactions: PROCYCLIDINE may have interactions with disease conditions such as arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), autonomic neuropathy (nerve damage), gastrointestinal obstruction, glaucoma, urinary obstruction, infectious diarrhea, tardive dyskinesia (involuntary facial movements), psychoses, high blood pressure, and fever.

Yes, Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet can be used as it is helpful in cases of excessive salivation and drooling which can be seen in Parkinson’s disease or due to medicines (neuroleptics). It should be taken only if prescribed by your doctor.

Avoid driving or operating machines if Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet causes blurred vision or makes you feel dizzy, confused or disorientated. You should also avoid taking alcohol as it may increase your drowsiness. Taking this medicine may affect your body’s ability to regulate its temperature. As a result, your body temperature may rise more than normal. So, you should also avoid areas with high humidity and high temperature.

Patients who are allergic to Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet or any of the other ingredients of this medicine should not take Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet. This medicine should be avoided in cases of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) in patients who have a blockage in the intestine (gut). In addition, patients who are facing difficulty, or are unable to, pass urine and are not currently receiving any form of treatment for this, should avoid taking Ocyl 2.5mg Tablet.
