Onconase 5000IU Injection is given as an injection by the doctor, but try to have it the same time each day to make sure it has the best effect. The most common side effect of this medicine includes breathlessness, rash, vomiting, angioedema (swelling of deeper layers of skin), and nausea. It is advised that you drink extra fluids so that you pass more urine. This will help prevent bladder and kidney problems and keep your kidneys working well.


This medicine may lower your body's resistance and increase susceptibility to infections. Asparaginase belongs to class of medications called antineoplastic agents. Asparaginase is an enzyme that interferes with natural processes necessary for cancer cell growth, thereby killing or stopping the growth of cancer cells.


Pharmacokinets

Asparaginase products are isolated from different types of bacteria, namely Escherichia coli and Erwinia chrysanthemi. They inhibit protein synthesis in tumor cells by depriving them of the amino acid asparagine. This drug is phase specific, with the greatest activity in the G1 phase of the cell cycle.

Contra Indications

tell your doctor if you have or have ever had pancreatitis (swelling of the pancreas), blood clots, or severe bleeding, especially if these happened during treatment with asparaginase (Elspar) or pegaspargase (Oncaspar). Your doctor probably will not want you to receive asparaginase Erwinia chrysanthemi.

Food items with soluble fiber can help relieve diarrhea as they help absorb excess fluid from the body. These food items include bananas (ripe), orange, boiled potatoes, white rice, curd, and oatmeal. Diarrhea can cause dehydration in the body, so drink 8-10 glasses of water to avoid dehydration. You can also have soups and juice frequently to hydrate yourself.
