Pamorelin LA 22.5mg Injection is used in the treatment of prostate cancer. It is also used to treat endometriosis (endometrium of uterus grows excessively and causes symptoms like pain, heavy or irregular periods), and central precocious puberty (very early puberty).

Mechanism Of Action

Triptorelin (trip" toe rel' in) is a decapeptide analogue of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) that acts on the pituitary to cause the synthesis and release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), two gonadotropins that act on the male testes to stimulate the production of testosterone 

Pharmacokinets

Triptorelin is used to treat advanced prostate cancer in men. It is a hormone that is similar to the one normally released from the hypothalamus gland in the brain. When given on a regular basis to men, triptorelin decreases testosterone levels which helps treat prostate cancer

Contra Indications

triptorelin increases toxicity of amiodarone by QTc interval. Contraindicated. Increases risk of torsades de pointes. triptorelin increases toxicity of anagrelide by QTc interval

Pamorelin LA 22.5mg Injection is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.

Indications

Triptorelin is indicated for the palliative treatment of advanced prostate cancer.

Interactions

Chloroquine The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Triptorelin is combined with Chloroquine.

Chlorpheniramine The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Triptorelin is combined with Chlorpheniramine.

Storage Requirements

Store in a refrigerator (2 - 8°C). Do not freeze.

Expert Advice

Pamorelin LA 22.5mg Injection helps in the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer.

It is given as an injection either under the skin or into a muscle.

It may cause dizziness and visual disturbances. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.

It will cause menstrual periods to stop. Periods will resume 7-12 weeks after the final injection. Consult your doctor if you experience menstrual bleed despite treatment.

Use non-hormonal methods of contraception such as condoms to prevent pregnancy during treatment, as this medicine may be harmful to a developing baby.

Long term treatment may lead to bone loss and a higher risk of bone fractures, especially if you are a heavy drinker, a smoker, or have a family history of osteoporosis.

It may also be used to treat endometriosis and precocious puberty (premature puberty)
